Close Thornton raises £123.43 through festive charity days

Close Thornton Solicitors in Darlington has raised £123.43 for The Darlington Town Mission and Save The Children through a double charity drive.

The team held a bake sale on Thursday 14th December to raise money for The Darlington Town Mission and a Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 15th December with the proceeds being split between The Darlington Town Mission and Save The Children. In total, £90 will go to The Darlington Town Mission and £33.43 to Save The Children.

Sue Alexander, Partner at Close Thornton, said: “We are delighted the team has raised this money for two such worthwhile causes. We wanted to join the rest of the country in supporting Save The Children’s Christmas jumper campaign but also thought it was important to support a local charity as well.”

The Darlington Town Mission was founded in 1838 by three local businessmen, John Backhouse and John Pease (Quakers) and John Hopkins (Anglican). It aims to relieve poverty, sickness, hardship and distress of those in need in the Borough of Darlington through the provision of practical and material assistance, advice, information and support and by any other charitable means that the Trustees in their discretion think fit, in order to improve the said beneficiaries’ quality of life.
