A not so early retirement?

From 6th April next year the minimum age for drawing benefits from a private pension will rise from 50 to 55. For example, someone born on the 7th April 1960 could have started drawing their pension from their 50th birthday, i.e. the 7th April 2010. Once the new rules come into force, he or she will have to wait until their 55th birthday on 7th April 2015 before they can touch their benefits.

The real cost of redundancy

The real cost of redundancy for employers has increased from October this year.

In April's budget statement the Chancellor announced that the limit on weekly pay taken into account in calculating statutory redundancy pay is to be raised from its current level of £350 to £380.

Every Family Matters

The publication of a new report provides the most comprehensive review of the family law in this country for decades.

In July this year the Centre for Social Justice, which was established in 2004, published a report called 'Every Family Matters'. This report contains 130 recommendations proposing broad policy changes and specific law reforms.
